When God Himself Becomes the Desire

When God Himself Becomes the Desire

There are tender moments with God that are difficult to put into words.

Moments when we feel the warmth of His presence and a safety that blankets us with peace. When tears of joy come simply because we know He’s right there.

Everything else seems to grow quiet, and for a moment there is just this beautiful awareness of Him.

Sometimes His presence feels so near it overwhelms us. Other times it is quiet and gentle, a settled knowing that He is with us.

And perhaps one of the most precious things of all is simply knowing:

He loves me.

There is such rest in that.

To know that we are seen, known, and deeply loved by God. To sit with Him without needing the moment to become anything more than it already is. To enjoy His presence and know that He enjoys having us near.

Because this desire for nearness isn’t ours alone.

Throughout Scripture, we see the heart of a God who draws near to His people. He calls us to Himself. He makes Himself known. He reveals His heart. He invites us into fellowship with Him.

He wants us with Him.

There is something so beautiful about knowing that our desire for Him is met by His desire for us to draw near.

So, we come.

Sometimes with words and sometimes without them. Sometimes with tears, sometimes with joy. Sometimes we have so much to tell Him, and other times we simply sit quietly together in His presence.

And over time, something beautiful happens.

The more we see of Him, the more there is to love.

The more we know His heart, the more precious He becomes. And the more deeply we know His love, the more freely our own hearts respond in love.

Maybe that is part of the beauty of the Secret Place.

Love responding to Love.

And after all these years, the cry of my heart is still the same:

Lord, all I’ve ever wanted is You.

And maybe those words awaken something in your heart too, not because they are my words, but because somewhere deep within you, there is a longing that only He can satisfy.

So perhaps we can leave the Secret Place series right here, not with something more to learn or something more to do, but with a simple invitation to draw near to the One who loves us and wants us with Him.

To know Him. To enjoy Him. To love Him.

And to let the deepest cry of our hearts become beautifully simple:

Jesus, we just want You.
